Thankfulness is not one of the things we often talk about in radio but that should probably change. As tensions are rising in almost every area in our lives, taking the time to be thankful can provide a great deal of long lasting satisfaction. It is no secret that we often dwell on the negative more than the positive. This was more evident this year because of the highly charged political landscape. Being more thankful will make us better people, broadcasters and managers.
Here’s what you can do today to enhance your life and those around you! First, take the time to be thankful for your family and friends. Though many around you have let you down, your family and friends are there through thick and thin. Let these people provide you with the motivation you need to do your very best. When others let you down, do not let them take you down with them. Remember misery loves company.
Take time to be thankful for those who work very hard with you. How often do we take these people for granted? Yes, it is their job to work hard, but everyone needs appreciation and confirmation. Remember, those who work the hardest for you are doing it because of a deep appreciation and respect for you, NOT just because it’s their job.
Take the time to be thankful for your listeners. This appreciation will help you develop a deeper relationship with them. Do not look at these people as numbers or statistics on a spreadsheet. Instead, look at them as real people who are looking for good relationships just like you are. Take the time to get to know them as much as possible. Take an extra few moments with listeners when they call, let them know that you genuinely appreciate them. This relationship building will lead to your listeners telling other about you.
A thankful heart will lead to great things.
