BITS: WMIT/Black Mountain (106.9 the Light) joined with Prison Fellowship during an on-air effort for Angel Tree on Tuesday 12/8. In the ten-hour event listeners gave $102,851, enough to provide for 7,060 children who have a parent(s) in prison. These kids will get a gift and the Gospel. Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Director, Audio Media Services Jim Kirkland says, “All of us at 106.9 the Light are deeply blessed by how our listeners responded with wild generosity. Each person giving showed unconditional love to a family they didn’t know. Our prayer is through their gifts these children in the Prison Fellowship program know they’re not forgotten. They’re loved unconditionally by a mom or dad, and by their Savior, Jesus Christ.
For the 5th year WAY FM/Louisville brought the store to hundreds of children battling a life-threatening illness, as shopping for Christmas isn’t an option for them. Secret Santa’s Workshop at the hospital provided more than 1,200 gifts for children to shop for their loved ones. “Our listeners are really the rock stars here. They’re the ones who bring the thousands of toys every year that we come down to Kosair Childrens Hospital to help us bless these children and their families,” Matt Hahn, with Christian Radio Way-FM, said. Not only were all the gifts free, but so was the gift wrapping. Local TV station WLKY featured a story on the event.
